Elder Neglect

Elder neglect is a serious issue. This involves the neglect of an elderly individual. Elder neglect can range from instances where a caregiver withholds the appropriate attention from the elderly person to intentionally failing to meet the basic needs of the elderly person.

Planning for a Divorce

Although no person wants to think about planning for a divorce, divorce occurs in almost 50 percent of all marriages. If one party is thinking about divorce he or she should plan prior to filing for divorce. One should especially consider the financial consequences of divorce.

The Multiethnic Placement Act

The Multiethnic Placement Act (MEPA) is a federal law, enacted in 1994, that prohibits racial and ethnic discrimination in connection with adoptions and foster care. A 1996 amendment, called "Removal of Barriers to Interethnic Adoption," reaffirmed and strengthened the MEPA.

Institutional Facilities for Delinquents and Civilly Institutionalized Juveniles

If a state institutional facility has deprived a juvenile of his right to mental treatment or has deprived him of any of his civil rights, the juvenile may opt to file suit against the institutional facility. There are two basic methods that the juvenile may seek with respect to relief.

Fraudulent Inducement to Marry and Negligent Misrepresentation

A spouse may file an action against the defendant spouse alleging that based upon fraud or deceit she entered the marriage in reliance upon the defendant's false representations, which were made in order to induce the plaintiff to marry the defendant.
